Himalaya Anti Dandruff Hair Cream

hi beauties ,

Winter’s are a time when people most often tend to have dandruff issues…

Anti dandruff shampoos only remove those flakes but do they prevent? NO. At the least most don’t.So the dandruff eventually returns and this viscious cycle goes on and on.Wilw i was surfing through youtube,i came across this product “Himalaya Anti Dandruff Hair Cream”….It has tulsi and tea tree (as it says on the product)

PRODUCT REVIEWED-Himalaya Anti Dandruff Hair Cream

PRICE- Rs 100 for 175 ml

Apply sufficient amount of cream from root to tip, massage gently on scalp using your fingers to spread the cream evenly .For better reslts, use daily before and after hair wash.

AS HAIRMASK- i apply this as a hairmask as mentioned above by generous applying the cream.

AS HAIR CONDITIONER-i have also used this as a conditioner…and this cream does a brillant job in doing that 🙂 .i use a much less amount of cream (as compared to HAIRMASK) and apply it only to the shaft of my hair …leave it for 2-3 minutes and wash it of.

AS ANTI -FRIZZ CREAM-it also helps in taming dry ,frizzy ,rough and tangled hair. After shampooing and conditoning ,when my hair dries up….i  apply a small amount of cream to my finger tips….and run it through my hair. 🙂

PACKAGING-It comes in round white tub with green cap.

TEXTURE– The cream is super smooth and spreads amazingly well…a small quantity of it goes a long way.The consistency of the cream was so thick that it didn’t even drop when i turned the tub upside down.

SMELL- i like the smell of it…but some people might not….

My review

The cream is truly a cream, very smooth to touch. It bought instant relief to itchy sensation(a common problem seen in dandruff scalp) as soon as this cream was applied. It was intense moisture and my scalp was cool and RELAXED. I combed my hair so as to spread the cream throughout the hair shaft.i applied the cream 2 to 3 hours before shampooing .

After washing off my hair…i did feel a change in the texture of my felt a lot smoother and tangle free….

For the dandruff to go away…it does take time and a clean scalp can be achieved on regular use.

Thumbs Up 👍-

  • affordable and easily Available
  • relieves itchiness
  • relieves frizz
  • conditions hair
  • Improves the texture of hair
  • quite a lot of product to use ..the cream was filled up to the brim of the tub 🙂

Thumbs Down 👎 –

  • Some people might not like the smell of it.
  • it goes contain inactive ingredients like Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Rating- 4.5/5

Would i repurchase it? yes… least for using it throughout winters.

Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream Review

hi lovelies,

This is winter time and a very common time to develop rough patches on skin and frequently chapping lips. Yes, we all love those fancy colorful products but at times, it is nice to go back to products that have been trusted for generations One such age old cream is Boroline.

I will review Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream which is a very old cream that I have heard that my mum had used when she was a kid. This cream is a very popular. This use to be the best antiseptic cream at every cheap price at that time and I got it recently to cherish the same love that I have when my grand mum used to apply this antiseptic cream on me.

PRICE-Rs 10 for 7 gm ( 0.15usd)

What it Claims?

Works Wonders to-

  • Smoothen Cracked Lips
  • Cure Cuts & Wounds
  • Soften Elbows & Abraded Skin
  • Cure Cracked Heels
  • Soften Nail Cuticles
  • Heal Post-operative Stiches
  • Cure General Skin Infections
  • Smoothen Dry & Chapped Skin

How to Use Boroline/Direction to use

  • Clean the skin well and then apply Boroline – gently massaging in the cream.
  • Warming up Boroline and using it in molten state increases its efficacy – specially in  curing skin infections.
  • In case the cut is open and deep, it is advisable to apply Boroline only when the cut has closed and begun to dry up. During early stages apply Suthol and keep the cut  covered and dry.

Where Not to Use Boroline

  • Do not use Boroline on pimples which occur due to excessive oil secretion. Boroline being oily itself will aggravate the problem.
  • Do not apply Boroline on very deep wounds, which are raw and weeping. Keep such wounds dry and covered, preferably washing with Suthol twice a day and using medication as per Doctor’s advice. Cover with cotton and a clean gauge that allows air circulation.

The consistency of the cream is very thick. It does not melts easily & appears to be of stiff & sticky texture with white in color.

It is available in tube form and lip balm shaped green plastic  case ,both of which are totally travel-friendly 🙂

The Review

Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream is manufactured by GD Pharma and has remained exactly the same since it’s very introduction apart from the packaging. This is an all purpose cream for minor cuts and bruises to dry and chapped lips to dry patches of skin that occur often in winter. Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream contains boric acid, that works as a mild antiseptic. Then there is zinc oxide, which is an astringent and also promotes healing of wounds. Lastly there are white petroleum jelly and anhydrous lanolin that give this cream is emollient and moisturizing properties.. The name of this cream is derived from its ingredients, Boroline Antiseptic Ayurvedic Cream is combination of essential oils, waxes and its remarkable antiseptic properties are a result of boric powder and zinc oxide.

I normally use this cream on my lips but one could use it anywhere in dry areas like feet, elbows, cuticles etc. Whenever I feel my lips to be dry I apply its thick layer on to my lips & leave it overnight & believe me I get to see a huge difference in my lips the next morning. My lips appears atleast 60% less dry & rough than before. Then I continue to use it in winters to protect them.

I can say this from my personnel experience that the Boroline cream can even heal severely chapped bleeding lips also within two days if applied nicely. It can even lighten dark lips to some extent if used regularly but for dryness its works like a charm. The best way to use it is applying its thick layers & leaving it overynight. Using this will definitely make lips smooth & soft. Thus this Boroline cream is definitely the best lip balm I have ever used.

It hydrates skin very well since it is oil based and even contains white petroleum jelly. It has a very long shelf life so, you need not worry about expiry date too. It is dirt cheap. A wonderful product for the price that one has to pay.

Thumbs up  👍 –

  • Very effective in healing dry chapped lips and skin
  • Shows results overnight in one application.
  • Very affordable.
  • Easily available at medical stores or local stores
  • Easy to carry-travel friendly.
  • Best lip balm for dry lips.

Thumbs Down 👎

  • Sticky texture
  • should not be used by very oily skinned people

RATING – 4.5/5

Winter can wreck havoc on your skin. Whipping winds, dry air, and chilly temps can really do a number on soft skin and hair. Cold air outside and central heat indoors can strip moisture from strands and pores, making hair rough and skin itchy and dry.

1)Cleanse…without stripping your skin.– A little exfoliation speeds skin turnover, helping both to trigger a natural repair process and to build Collagen and Elastin. And use exfoliators or scrubs  to get the dead skin off periodically; that helps any moisturizers you use to sink in faster and deeper. 🙂

If there was ever a time to use gentle cleansers, it’s winter. Look for cleansers with natural oils, like green tea oil, in their list of ingredients so you can cleanse and lubricate simultaneously. Let go of your need for “squeaky clean” skin because cleansers with harsh sudsing agents ultimately do more damage than good, stripping your skin of its environmental protective barrier.

  • Clean and clear berry blast face wash
  • Avene cleanance gel
  • Ponds daily face wash
  • Himalaya Herbals Moisturizing Aloe Vera gel face wash
  • Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing Face Wash
  • The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil (oil based face wash)
  • Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Scrub

2)Tone-Toning is really  necessary while your skin is still damp after bathing or scrubbing or cleansing your face….Toners essentially prevent the loss of moisture from your face and prevents it from forming fine lines

i usually use Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water or sometimes dabar gulbari Rose water.

Other toner that can be used –

  • Organic harvest green cucumber toner
  • Avene Thermal Spring Water
  • Kaya Purifying Toner

3)Use a sunscreen
People like to enjoy the sun during winter but little do they know that exposure to the sun can hasten ageing. Therefore, one must use a sunscreen 15 minutes before going out in order to allow the skin to absorb it.[ sunscreen should always be used before moisturizers]

Just because the sun isn’t out as long during winter, doesn’t mean you can take a sunscreen break. Always choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects you from both UVA and UVB rays.Sunscreens with zinc oxide do an especially good job of repelling rays before they can enter the skin and wreak havoc. Wear sunscreen every day, from dawn to dusk, rain or shine, in hot or cold weather.

4)Moisturizing More You may have found a moisturizer that works just fine in spring and summer. But as weather conditions change, so, too, should your skin care routine.

Find an “ointment” moisturizer that’s oil-based, rather than water-based, as the oil will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than a cream or lotion. (Hint: Many lotions labeled as “night creams” are oil-based.)

Facial moisturisers ,body lotions and body butter are a must for winters-

  • Pond’s moisturing lotion( i just love the smell of it)-CHECK OUT MY REVIEW HERE
  • Za perfect solution Moisturizer( its very thin & light in consisteny)
  • Vaseline Body lotion
  • Nivea creme
  • Nivea soft cream
  • Nivea smooth body  milk lotion
  • La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Protective Care
  • Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
  • Kama Ayurveda Kokum And Almond Body Butter

Using Facial oils and serum, instead of moisturisers also an option. But choose your oils with care because not all oils are appropriate for the face. Instead, look for “nonclogging” oils, like avocado oil, mineral oil, primrose oil, or almond oil.I usually use facial oils as night moisturizer.

During winters we often tend to drink less of water so keeeping our skin extra-hydrated facial oils can be used.Oil can actually helps in balancing the oil content of your skin be it any skin From NORMAL to COMBINATION to Oily skin. 🙂 Oils which i prefer using is-

  • The Body Shop Oils of Life Facial Oil
  • Soultree cold-pressed olive oil
  • figaro olive oil
  • Just Herbs Rejuvenating Beauty ELIXIR Facial Serum

TIP TO REMEMBER- For winters, always use a toner with no alcohol, and masks that are “deeply hydrating.

Keeping a tube of lip balm in an easily accessible pocket is a good first step, but winter winds can take chapped lips to a whole new level. If lips are flaky, take a clean toothbrush and very gently exfoliate the skin to remove excess skin.

For seriously dry lips, apply honey or Vaseline for 15 minutes and then remove with a cotton swab dipped in hot water.

LIPBALMS are a must-have for everyone. Some of them which are quite good are-

  • Nivea lipbalm: rose
  • Nivea Essential Care-Lip Balm
  • Maybelline Baby lips (this lip balm has quite a range …& my favorites)-CHECK OUT MY REVIEW HERE & HERE
  • Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Moisturizer
  • Nivea Lip Butter – Blueberry Blush
  • Vaseline Lip Therapy – Rosy Lips
  • nivea hydro care
  • BURT’S BEES BEESWAX LIP BALM(all time essential)
  • VASELINE can also do the trick if you don’t have any lipbalms. 🙂

it’s bad enough to have freezing digits, but cracked and painful skin on the hands is the icing on the cake. To prevent hands from drying out, apply moisturizer after hand washing and at least several times throughout the day. Keep a bottle of lotion by each sink in your home and in your desk at work. If hands are very dry, use cream instead of lotion because the former has a higher oil-to-water ratio.

Wearing rubber gloves while washing dishes can prevent hands from getting dried out due to excess contact with hot water too. To really rehab the skin on hands, use very thick hand cream right before bed and then slip on  cotton gloves—the enclosed space will help the moisturizer absorb into the skin.(same routine goes for foot ).Me being a dental intern by profession …i tend to keep a handcream always with me….as working throughout the day is daily routine for me.

USE HANDCREAMS or FOOTCREAMS ,if necessary like-

  • Fabindia Lemon Intensive Hand Cream
  • Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
  • The body shop hand cream (it comes in many varients…which i absolutely love)
  • Dermalogica Age Smart Multivitamin Hand And Nail Treatment
  • Natio Spa Heavenly Hand Cream
  •  L’Occitane Lavender Hand Cream

Tip- Wear gloves on hand and socks on feet after cleaning it and applying moisturizer or cream or body lotion ….for supple, soft and smooth skin in the morning.

Maybelline baby lips spiced up

Hi beauties,

IT’s winter time…So i thought it would be an awesome thing to review some lip balms i have always been using on the go…!! whenever i travel or even at home to keep by lips hydrated 🙂

Maybelline New York launches the all new Baby Lips Spiced Up, made for the Indi pop generation specially and developed to perfectly suit the range of Indian skin tones.

Spiced Up comes in delicious flavors –

  • Spicy Cinnamon,
  • Berry Sherbet,
  • Tropical Punch

Product reviewed– MAYBELLINE SPICED UP

Shade reviewed– Tropical punch

PRICE -Rs175 ~ 2.6 USD ( i bought it from fir Rs. 131)

PACKAGING-The Maybelline Spiced Up Lip Balmcomes in an oval shaped cardboard box with cute graphic designs and other details about the product. The packaging of the balm is like the regular baby lips available in India. The lip balm tube is color-coded which makes it easy to locate in your makeup stash. It is also travel friendly and the cap shuts well with a click sound

What the product claims:

– Deeper shades to suit sun-kissed skin tones
– Stronger, lip-smacking flavours
– Intense 12hr care
– Enriched with SPF 20 for sun protection

Colour: The colour of the lip balm tube of shade Tropical Punch is a pink with reddish undertones. When swatched or applied on the lips, it shows up like a light pink, still leaning more towards red.

Texture-the balm definitely feels heavy on lips(feels like you have applied boreline on)….but at the same time its moisturizing…It’s definitely long lasting than “MAYBELLINE ELECTRO POP”. (I have reviewed “MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS ELECTRO POP ” HERE )

Smell: The fragrance of this lip balm is very fruity with a hint of spice..(just like the name of the product states 😉 )

My experience-Tropical Punch has a deep pinkish tint, Berry Sherbet is more on the reddish side while Spicy Cinnamon has a brownish tint. These add a hint of color to the lips which is perfect for natural looks.Colorwise, I quite like what Maybelline has done here. The tints are deep enough to show up on the lips but not so pigmented that they cross over to the lipstick territory! For some people the texture of the balm might seem heavy after application..even on one swipe…..but its ok for me. 🙂

Its definitely hydrates your lips and gives a nice healthy sheen….for everyday use. The only downside for me was the packaging…i really liked the packaging of the “electro pop ” range of maybelline baby lips!!

Thumbs up 👍 –

  • Nice travel friendly packaging
  • Beautiful natural pinky shade
  • stays for long
  • very creamy and buttery
  • SPF 20
  • fades leaving a tint behind after 3 – 4 hrs
  • Easily available online and in stores
  • Contains the goodness of Coconut oil and Vitamin E (as per the ingredients list)
  • custom made for indian skin
  • hydrates and moistures lips
  • affordable

Thumbs down 👎 –

  • Doesn’t cover/hide pigmented lips
  • people who don’t like too heavy lip balm

Rating- 4/5.i’m quite a fan of “maybelline baby lips range”.i would definitely recommend this one !

hi beauties 😉 ❤

Company :LAKME

What the Lakme Claims:

The Lakme Skin Gloss Gel Creme is enriched with minerals to hydrate your skin for a healthy glow. Along with moisture for a soft, supple texture, it gives your skin a layer of flawless luster.

  • A light glaze with mineral laden glacial water
  • Hydrates to make skin look radiant
  • Moisture coats your skin with gloss

Price: Rs. 399 for 50g(6.011 usd)

PACKAGING-The black glossy tub comes with an reflective icy blue twist up cap, very impressive packaging .The tub is very sturdy and the packaging is overall travel friendly.

the pack came with a “how to apply” card in it

How to Use

lakme skin gloss

Shelf Life : 24 months

Color : Light Blue

Smell : Artificial Cologne like Smell

My experience-To be frank we all love it when our skin glows and I wanted to try skincare products from our very own Indian brand Lakme and hence I got it to see if it lives up to the claims.

The Lakme Skin Gloss Gel Creme is enriched with minerals to hydrate your skin for a healthy glow. Along with moisture for a soft, supple texture, it gives your skin a layer of flawless luster. It is a light glaze with mineral laden glacial water which hydrates to make skin look radiant and moisture coats your skin with gloss. It gives skin soft and supple texture along with a flawless luster.

The Lakme Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Creme has a very lightweight texture and is perfectly named since it is somewhere between a gel and a cream hence has properties of both which is unique. The major gripe I have about it is the strong masculine cologne like fragrance, I mean who would add such strong fragrance in skincare products for women, but thankfully it fades within few minutes of applying it.

It gives an instant cooling sensation upon application which feels so good in this hot weather. It is not moisturising enough for dry patches on skin or even for winters

My skin drinks it up immediately, and it feels super smooth and soft, without feeling heavy, oily or sticky. But mind you it feels greasy if gone overboard, so make sure to apply little quantity. There was little glossy or rather glowy effect on my combination skin, but definitely not as much lakme claims. It provides an excellent base for makeup as well as it makes blending very easy. But my combination skin gets very oily and shiny few hours after applying it,

Thumbs up 👍 –

  • Unique and very attractive friendly
  • Great lightweight and smooth texture which gets absorbed instantly
  • Did not feel oily and heavy on skin
  • Hydrates and moisturizes skin instantly giving a healthy natural glow.can be used in place of face highlighter. i use it that way more often 🙂
  • Makes a great and smooth base for makeup
  • Contains Mineral rich glacial water
  • easily available

Thumbs down 👎 –

• Not moisturizing enough for dry skin types and for winters

  • As lakme claims it to be a day time product, it certainly lacks SPF

Rating– 4/5

Orange Lipstick-Coloressence Premia Bomb Shell Lip Color

Hi Everyone!! 🙂

I came across this lipstick while searching for a pocket-friendly orange lip shade for my bestie. She was quite impressed with the shade and recommended it to me. After seeing this product on discount, I did not hesitate to order it online

Formulation-Vitamin E, jojoba oil, and licorice extract, it claims to be 100% vegetarian. No animal ingredients.

Shelf Life:

3 years from the date of manufacture.

Packaging-it comes in lovely silver shiny box.moreover i was amazed to see the shape of the lipstick container…it was different yet chic…and not the regular one

Product Details:

Unique moisture shine and durable color.  Dazzling crystal effects that cares for your lips as it colors.  Rich in vitamin E, jojoba oil and licorice extract that reduces lines, repairs lips and lip plumper.

My Experience with Coloressence Premia Bomb Shell Lip Color:

The lipstick comes in a plastic case with a metallic silver finish.  It shuts with a single click which makes it travel friendly, it won’t open easily in the bag.  Coming to the shade, it is a dark orange, opaque shade with subtle hint of red, but no shimmer.  This shade would suit only fair skin tones, it’s a big no-no for girls with wheatish to dark complexions. It is an “occasional wear” shade and girls who like bold colors will rock it since it’s a bold orange.  This matte creamy shade is smooth in application and doesn’t settle into the fine lines.  Being nicely pigmented, the mild smell of conventional lipstick can be ignored.  It neither dries out my lips nor moisturize them.  Lasting only for 2-3 hours, it fades after eating something leaving behind a hint of shade.  The formulation doesn’t bleed.  It gets easily removed with a milk cleanser or makeup remover.

I bought this shade very eagerly but was very disappointed with the bold shade, therefore I found a way out. Firstly, moisturize your lips properly and then use this shade very sparingly and smudge it all over your lips – it gives a pretty natural lip color.

Thumbs up of Coloressence Premia Bomb Shell Lip Color:

  • Travel-friendly packaging.
  • affordable
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Provides good coverage, especially for pigmented lips.
  • Doesn’t bleed.
  • Fragrance free.
  • “Yes” for bold matte shade lovers.
  • This shade will not suit all complexions.
  • No shimmer.
  • Smooth in application.
  • 100% vegetarian.

thumbs down of Coloressence Premia Bomb Shell Lip Color:

  • Doesn’t moisturize as it claims.
  • It’s a bold shade, so might be up everyone’s alley.
  • Not easily available in local stores.
  • Shade cannot be identified without opening the cap.
